Air Turbulence

Jan 27th-Feb 19th 2023
A Comedy
by: Daniel Watts

Directed by: Dennis Floyd
Produced by:Darrell Datte and Brent Stringfield

Audition Notes:
This comedic farce is set in 2019, mid-air in the cabin of a Spirit Airlines flight bound for Denver. For obvious reasons, most of the full cast will remain on stage (in the plane) for the entire play. This is an ensemble play, a comedy. And its success will depend upon everyone in the cast carrying the very silly load.

About the Director Dennis Floyd:

This is Dennis’ directorial debut with PowPAC. He has appeared on the stage here in Romeo and Juliet, Nuts, and Another Antigone. Dennis most recently directed Brighton Beach Memoirs for Lamplighters Theatre. He has directed several shows over the years, including A.R. Gurney’s The Cocktail Hour, Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors, and Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. He is also an award-winning scenic designer. Dennis loves comedy and farce. He believes that the best comedies are built in trusting and supportive environments by casts that become like family. Air Turbulence is an ensemble piece, and its success will depend on the work of everyone on stage and behind the scenes: Drama kings and queens (and other self-important royalty) need not apply.

About the Producer Brent Stringfield:

Brent has been involved with community theatre since the age of three. He began directing, designing, and producing in his early twenties and has spent the years honing his craft through his love of theatre. In recent years, Brent was one of the producers for PowPAC’s Private Lives. At this point in his career, he only works on shows for which he has a passion. Brent is eager to help Dennis and PowPAC bring this show to our main stage.

Plot Synopsis:
When a cheating husband flies his wife to Denver for their anniversary, he is terrified to discover that their flight attendant is the secret mistress he had been trying to hide. Seven wacky passengers - and a pilot with a secret of his own - complicate his attempts to smooth-talk his way out of it. It is a bumpy, hilarious ride in some very turbulent skies!
