Cast Requirements:
TRUVY JONES: 40ish, Owner of the Beauty Shop. She is a wise-cracking Southern woman with a heart of gold. She cares deeply for her clients who are more like family to her.

ANNELLE DUPUY-DESOTO: 19 – early 20s, Beauty Shop Assistant. She is sweet, innocent (to begin with) and eager to please. Annelle has the biggest transformation as she find her way into the circle of friends to be vital part of the circle.

CLAIREE BELCHER: mid 60s, Widow of former Mayor. A Grande Dame but can get down and dirty with the rest of them. She is civic-minded and a forward thinker with a sharp sense of humor.

SHELBY EATENTON-LATCHERIE: mid 20s, prettiest girl in town. Loves her mother, but will not be told what to do. Once she has her mind set, nothing will deter her. Strong-willed, but loving and lovable.

M’LYNN EATENTON: This role is pre-cast and will be played by Kaly McKenna

OUISER BOUDREAUX: mid 60s, a wealthy curmudgeon who is not afraid to speak her mind. Ouiser is acerbic but lovable. Tough as nails on the outside but warm and giving on the inside…you just have to get past the exterior which isn’t easy.

The women in this play are witty, intelligent, and above all, REAL!

Plot Synopsis:
The action is set in Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser; an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee; and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby is about to marry a "good ole boy." Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play moves toward tragedy when, in the second act, the spunky Shelby (who is a diabetic) risks pregnancy and forfeits her life. The sudden realization of their mortality affects the others, but also draws on the underlying strength—and love—which give the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.
