by Kenneth Lonergan

Director: Kevin Jones
Producers: Debbie David and Kaly McKenna

Oct 17th - Nov 9th, 2008

”Lobby Hero” was first staged off Broadway in 2001. It opened March 13 at New York’s Playwrights Horizons and was praised as:
"smart, funny ... [a] drama that derives its strength from Lonergan's keen ear for dialogue. One powerful tale" (New York Daily News).
“Lobby Hero,” nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play.

“Lobby Hero” is regarded as Lonergan’s smoothest and most crowd-pleasing play. The entanglement in a murder investigation by a young security guard working the 8 a.m. to midnight shift in a nuts-and-bolts Manhattan apartment building entails enough laughs to rival Neil Simon’s early comedies. The emphasis in “Lobby Hero” is primarily on humor, but there is a morality play tucked into the comedy and you’ll be left with a few issues to think about after you’ve stopped chuckling.

As Ben Brantley of The New York Times wrote, "motives come in every shade but black and white" in “Lobby Hero,” creating a "combustible brew of impulses.”
“Lobby Hero” at times contains strong and adult language. Parental guidance is advised.
