Thespians from Poway Performing Arts Company are polishing their skills for "Fools On Stage," a night of improvisational theater set for 7 'clock Sunday to raise money for the center's newly formed improvement fund.

The theater, at 13250 Poway Road in the Lively Center, is nearing its fifth-year anniversary but is in need of some cosmetic changes -- new lobby carpet, bathroom repairs and upgrades, plus a main stage curtain.

"As a non-profit organization, we pay reduced rent, but we also take care of everything that breaks ourselves." said Barbara Seagren, PowPAC producer. "Now we need to raise the money. If we're going to do it, we're going to do it right."

Sunday's fund raiser is a spin-off of the television show "Whose Line Is It Anyway," which asks visiting actors to formulate a skit, take on a certain persona or finish a theatrical interpretation -- their way.

Expect the unexpected as actors take a few comedic turns with their own version of "Wardrobe,""Guess Who's Coming to Dinner,""Hatbox," and "Look Ma, No Hands." At one point, the audience will be asked to help make up a new language, which the actors will incorportate into an improvised skit.

Dave Hibler will help serve as master of ceremonies and will be joined by many PowPAC regulars, including Jonathan Sachs, Erin Thice, Tom Raftery, Eileen O'Connor, Mike McCullock and director Julie Anderson.

Tickets are each and reservations may be made by calling *(858) 679-8085. Several opportunity drawings for entertainment packages also will be available.

PowPAC's final production of the season, the comedy "True West" Sam Shepard, begins April 28 and continues through May 21.

Letters to the Editor
Poway News Chieftain

Dear Editor:

Many thanks from Poway Performing Arts Company for covering our fund raiser "Fools On Stage." We depend on the Pomerado Newspaper Group when publicizing our regular season, but even more when we stage a One-Night-Only show. We're very grateful to staff writer Pat Kumpan for calling us for an interview. Her write-up brought in a fun-loving audience who helped raise more than 0 for our Theater Improvement Fund.

We also appreciate the generous donors who provided raffle prizes. Included in this esteemed group are Bahia Belle & Hotel, Birah Aquarium, Carmel Highland Doubletree Resort, Chicken Pie Diner, Christian Community Theater, Coronado Playhouse, Disneyland, H & M Landing, Hip Hair, Hornblower Cruises, Lamplighters Community Theater, Old Globe Theatre, San Diego Ballet, San Diego Maritime Museum, San Diego Padres, San Diego Zoological Society, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Welk Resort Center, We thank these fine establishments for sponsoring "Fools On Stage" and encourage your readers to think of them whenever they are looking for a special treat.

Julie Anderson, Director
