Returning after a year-long haitus.

The following information was taken from an article in the NEWS CHIEFTAIN of April 19, 1984.

PowPAC was formed at approximately the same time Poway was incorporated into a city, and it was originally funded by the city. But scheduling difficulties became insurmountable. It wasn't long before the ties were severed forever.

Barbara Seagren, executive producer of the first play for 1984 was quoted as saying, "We broke away from the city in late 1982. For the next year we didn't really do much."

In the past, PowPac tried to put on productions at the community center along Bowron Road, but without curtains the center posed far too many problems. Members turned to the public school system for relief. They found, however, that when you don't own the stage, you can't cry too loud when you get kicked off.

And, such was the case just a few weeks before the opening of the first play after the hiatus.

"Cheaper" was originally scheduled to open in Twin Peaks Little Theater April 26, but a last minute scheduling problem "bumped" the fledgling troupe. Barbara remembers the incident well.

Barbara was quoted as saying, "I've been with other groups where you get bumped around." "One day we"ll get our own place, our own theater."
